Year 8 and 9 trip to Catalonia and Barcelona
Each year we offer pupils the opportunity to take part in a visit to Catalonia and Barcelona. The trip last five days and normally takes place in the middle of June.. We stay in the Hotel Volga which has excellent facilities in Calella on the Costa Brava. Catalonia is one of Spain’s most beautiful and prosperous regions. With Barcelona at its heart, it has a history dating back to Roman times and a wealth of art treasures to enjoy, most notably those of Dali, Gaudi and Picasso.
During the visit we see as much of the region as possible. This includes trips to Barcelona visiting the impressive Parc Guell designed by Gaudi; the Montjuic area and the Olympic Stadium, the Nou Camp Football Stadium, Home of FC Barcelona and a visit to the famous Boquería market on Las Ramblas. We also visit other places of local interest in Calella itself and spend the day at Port Aventura, one of Europe’s biggest theme parks. Evening activities take place on the beach, in the town, or within the grounds of the hotel and are supervised by staff from Beechen Cliff School.
The aim of the trip is to give boys the opportunity to improve their spoken Spanish and the chance to experience this exotic and historical part of Spain. The cost is usually appoximately £645.00 which includes airport transfers, return flights from Bristol to Barcelona, 5 days (4 nights) full board accommodation, all transport and entrance fees for excursions and comprehensive insurance.
