During years 8 and 9 we aim to develop motivated, engaged and confident language learners with a positive, can-do attitude towards learning Spanish. Learners are supported in taking risks and encouraged to actively use Spanish to communicate.
Our curriculum focuses on embedding a deeper knowledge of core language as well as an understanding of, and ability to use, grammatical structures. This allows for more independent use of language and provides a strong foundation for the GCSE course should pupils continue with Spanish at KS4.
The content of our curriculum in Spanish provides learners with the ability to talk about themselves as well as others and the world around them. Through the teaching of foreign languages, pupils are taught to accept and embrace other languages and cultures.
Exploration of language and culture is key to learning Spanish, either through the classroom or through trips to Spanish speaking countries.
