Year 8 and 9 visit to Cologne
Every two years we offer pupils the opportunity to visit the world famous Rhineland in Germany. The trip is for pupils in years 8 and 9 and usually takes place at the end of June. We stay in a youth hostel with excellent facilities in the centre of Cologne.
During the visit pupils have the opportunity to visit the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium, explore Cologne and walk along the River Rhein. We visit the amazing Stollwerck Chocolate Factory, the Sport and Olympia Museum and Bayer Leverkusen Football Stadium. The pupils are also able to soak up the history of the River Rhein by visiting the famous Marksburg Castle, the typical Rheinland town of Boppard and the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz where the rivers Rhein and Mosel meet. Finally, we go to Phantasialand, one of Germany’s most popular theme parks. The aim of the trip is to provide pupils with an exciting opportunity to expand their cultural awareness of Germany and to allow them to put some German language they have learned into practice.
The cost of the trip is generally around £450 and includes all transport costs including the use of an executive coach, four nights full board accommodation including packed lunches, all excursions and comprehensive insurance cover.
